Flags flying at half staff for National Police Officers Memorial Day

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Government buildings and private citizens in Abilene are honoring the police officers who were killed in the line of duty.

The flags at City Hall, the law enforcement center, Taylor County Courthouse, and other facilities are flying at half staff.

Wednesday is the day set aside to honor the officers who have been killed while serving and protecting their communites.

President John F. Kennedy designated May 15 as National Police Officer’s Memorial Day in 1961.
