ABILENE, Texas (KRBC) – It’s that time of year again, Hendrick Hospice Center is kicking off its Light Up a Life campaign.
During the entire month of December, volunteers will be accepting donations on behalf of the center, which will go to help provide affordable care to patients.
Volunteers set up a 20 foot Christmas tree in the Abilene mall Sunday and began selling “light bulbs” to donors Monday morning.
Each light bulb represents a $15 donation and will be placed on the tree.
This fundraiser is one of Hendrick Medical Center’s largest of the year and it’s one that several volunteers say they’re happy to give back to.
“They came to my house and took over and took a lot of load off of me and I appreciate it,” said one volunteer.
Hendrick Medical Center has set this year’s fundraising goal at $148,000. Those who wish to donate can do so at the Mall of Abilene or at Hendrick Hospice Care located on Pine St.
