Homicide suspect in Jones County death arrested in Eastland County

EASTLAND COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) — The man accused of being involved an a Hamlin woman’s death has been booked into jail on a murder charge, according to the Eastland County Jail.

Mitchel Glen Butler was arrested in Eastland County, Saturday night, at 11:38 p.m. The Eastland County Jail states he was found on Interstate 20 at mile marker 333.

His bond is set at $150,000.

On Friday, the Jones County Sheriff’s Office issued an arrest warrant for Butler, suspected of killing a woman Friday afternoon, according to a Jones County Sheriff’s press release.

Jones County sheriffs responded to an assault call east of Hamlin Friday afternoon, and arrived finding a victim identified as 66-year-old Alice Brigham, according to the release. EMS transported Brigham to the Hamlin Memorial Hospital where she was later pronounced dead.

Mitchel Glen Butler, 39, was identified as a suspect in the murder, and a warrant had been issued for his arrest, according to the release.

Texas Rangers are also assisting in the investigation.

Butler has a previous criminal record, last being arrested in 2007 and taken to the Taylor County Jail for several theft and burglary charges.
