ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – An IHOP waitress in Abilene has gone viral after showing an act of kindness to a Breckenridge man with Down syndrome, giving him his own personalized name tag.
Dwayne Roach of Breckenridge was with his sister Regina Thomason on Tuesday when they stopped at the Abilene IHOP for a drink and noticed the name tag of their waitress that said “Millie”.
Regina tells BigCountryHomepage that her brother has a fascination with name tags and badges, and admired Millie’s name tag. He told Millie that his name was Captain America while she served them.
As they prepared to leave the restaurant, Millie returned to their table with an IHOP name tag for Dwayne reading “Captain America” and pinned it to his shirt. “Dwayne was thrilled! It made his day.” said Regina.
In addition to his new IHOP name tag, Dwayne also has a badge from the Breckenridge police department, who in the past made him an honorary officer. He also will occasionally tell people his name is John Wayne, according to Regina.
“Thank you to Millie at IHOP.” Regina wrote on Facebook. “U made his day!”
