ABILENE, Texas (KRBC) – Clear the Shelters is back and is bigger than ever in Abilene!

The nationwide event is Saturday, Aug. 18 and in Abilene is hosted by KRBC News and the Abilene Animal Shelter and the Taylor-Jones Humane Society.

At the Abilene Animal Services (925 South 25th St), all adoptable cats and dogs will be on sale for $20 with a $20 rebate from Rescue the Animals.

The Taylor-Jones Humane Society (2301 North 3rd St)  will be adopting dogs for $25 and cats for $15.

Both events run from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m.

“Thank you to Abilene Animal Services for being this year’s sponsor,” said KRBC News Director Travis Ruiz. “This is an awesome opportunity for folks to be able to pick out their new best friend.”

Each year, NBC stations across the country partner with animal shelters to provide low-cost adoptions as part of the Clear the Shelters event.

Additionally, KRBC is partnering with Pam’s Pets and Abilene Animal Services for another adoption drive on Friday. From 2 p.m., until 6 p.m., pets will be on sale at Pam’s Pets at 3366 North 1st St.
