KTAB to host Abilene City Council debate April 18

ABILENE, Texas -- KTAB News, Your Local Election Headquarters, with the Abilene Chamber of Commerce Government Affairs Committee, is proud to announce a debate for Abilene City Council places 5 and 6.

The debate will air live on Thursday, April 18 from 6-7 p.m. In addition to the debate being aired on KTAB-TV, it will also be streamed online and on the BCH To Go mobile app and will include interactive content from a live Facebook feed.

“We are thrilled to be able to offer our audience an opportunity to learn more about the candidates in this important election,” said KTAB Vice President and General Manager Albert Gutierrez. “There will be no soft questions. We are getting right to the issues that matter to residents of this great community."

All three candidates for Place 5, incumbent Kyle McAlister, Cynthia Alvidrez and Cory Clements, have committed to participating in the debate.

All five candidates for Place 6 have also committed to participating in the debate, including Ron Konstantin, Travis Craver, Jessica Cantu, David Turvaville and Charles Byrn.

KTAB News is working in conjunction with Dr. Paul Fabrizio, political science professor at McMurry University, in the development of the debate. The formatting and questioning for the debate promises to be fair and hard hitting.

The debate will be moderated by the KTAB anchor team of Bob Bartlett and Stacie Lopez.

Immediately following the debate will be comprehensive analysis during a post-show to be streamed live on Facebook.
