ABILENE, Texas (KTAB) - It's the busiest grocery shopping day of the year.
It's the day before Thanksgiving.
This is the time when last-minute shoppers scramble to get all the essential items to fill their tables on Thanksgiving Day.
"It's hectic," explained United Supermarkets Grocery Manager Derek Orr. "Our store is usually flooded with guests needing the essential items to satisfy their families."
Those items usually consist of turkey, sweet potatoes, stuffing and food for desserts.
Orr and his staff at the United Supermarkets on North 10th and Willis are prepping for this day, making sure all the employees are ready to go.
The store also makes sure guests who don't have time to cook or those who need an easy go-to meal, has it.
"They come here and pick up the dinner and usually get extra rolls and some more hot side," explained Deli Manager Denise Dunn.
United Supermarkets offers a take-out Thanksgiving meal that includes the bird and all the sides.
It just requires heating up.
Dunn says it's a popular item for those not wanting to cook, having a lot to cook for or cook for just a few.
