Man accused of shooting, stabbing 3 victims at Abilene bar arrested in Metroplex

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A suspect accused of stabbing and shooting 3 victims at a north Abilene sports bar has been arrested in the Metroplex. 

Mark Anthony Rodriguez, 40, was taken into custody in his hometown of Hurst, Texas, Monday and is being held in the Tarrant County Jail on bonds totaling $1 million for 6 counts of Aggravated Assault. All charges were issued in connection to an incident that happened at MC’s Sports Bar in June of 2016.

Court documents state Rodriguez is accused of stabbing 2 victims in the back then shooting them in the arm and he also allegedly shot a 3rd victim in the foot. 

Police say the attack began after an argument between between 5 different individuals, including Rodriguez, at the bar. 

The bar’s owner, Hector Carmona, was shot and stabbed as he was trying to break up the altercation, according to police. 

Rodriguez is the only suspect in custody in connection to the crime thus far. Police initially claimed 4 suspects were involved in the attack, but it’s unknown if additional arrests are expected at this time.
