ABILENE, Texas (KRBC)-A confectionary and food park has popped up on the corner of S. 1st St and Butternut St.

Jennifer Moore and Claudia Anderson, the namesakes and owners of JC’s Lighthouse are selling their Italian sodas and chocolate goodies for a family-friendly hang-out spot.

“[The SODA district] is wanting to renovate the area and make it really nice, so I think we got in at a really good time,” said Moore.

Sisters and now business partners, the duo is calling their new shop a hobby.

“We work together,” Anderson said. “We’re on the roof. We’re painting. We’re on the floor–labor market right here.”

The two said they want their soda shop ot be the place to be.

“If college kids want to come out here and study or if they want to do, you know, homework or anything we will have that available.”
And, their business is giving to cause.

“[A mission trip has] built about 140 church-planters there in Cambodia, and they’ve built about 25 schools there. So, 10 percent of our proceeds, anything we make here will go to them.”

The owners say they plan to stick around.

“And so, our goal is to be the best little place in West Texas and to be connected also with the downtown area.”
