ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A new group is bringing together manufacturing companies from across the Big Country to one table.
The Big Country Manufacturing Alliance (BCMA) is teaming up with education partners to get workers trained and into the workforce.
Working with other businesses will help them all to have a louder voice when it comes to lobbying.
Many different manufacturers from across the Big Country were represented at the first meeting Thursday, mostly small-to-medium sized businesses make up the alliance.
“The Alliance allows us to get together, shared interests, shared goals. Each individual manufacturer is only to do a limited amount. As an alliance, we’re able to do a lot more,” says Bob Johnson, BWJ Metalworks.
According to the BCMA, U.S. manufacturing is the ninth-largest economy worldwide.
