(ABILENE, Texas)–McMurry University’s international student population is growing, especially when talking about their Saudi Arabian students. As a result, the university has created a prayer room to accommodate the students’ Muslim religious needs. KRBC’s Anavid Reyes took a trip to McMurry’s campus and spoke to students about their thoughts regarding the new addition to McMurry’s student life.

“Being Christians, we should be open to free religion and letting everyone do what they want to do and I think the Muslim prayer room gives them that chance,” said senior Hector Flores, senior McMurry University.

Currently McMurry has about 50 Muslim students out of the total 85 international  students on campus.

The university told KRBC, Saudi Arabia exercises great efforts to make western education attractive to their students by offering to pay for their education in full, if they study abroad.
