One killed in I-20 crash east of Abilene

CALLAHAN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – One Abilene man was killed after a two-vehicle collision along Interstate 20 in Callahan County Monday night.

The crash happened around 9:15 p.m., Monday, between Abilene and Clyde near mile marker 294 off westbound I-20.

Daniel Lyn Shay, 68, was pronounced dead at the scene after his Buick LCF was traveling east in the westbound lane of the highway, according to the Texas Department of Public Safety. Shay’s vehicle then struck another car headed westbound, overturned and came to rest in the median.

Shay was not wearing a seat belt, according to DPS. His body was taken to Abilene Professional Services.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported to Hendrick Medical Center with critical injuries.
