ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The name Jared Greer may sound familiar if you watch American Ninja Warrior.
Greer, formerly a youth minister, competed on the show during the sixth and seventh season, now taking what he learned on the course and teaching others about overcoming obstacles in real life.
“I did the course and I fell on the second obstacle, I was so bummed but when you fall down, you get back up,” said Greer. “God took my failures and turned it into an opportunity to inspire people and say ‘Hey when we fall down, that’s not the end we can get back up and we can make the most of our opportunity’.”
Greer bringing his workshop to Calvary Baptist Church in Synder this weekend, setting up his own version of the American Ninja Warrior obstacle course.
“It teaches them to never give up,” said Greer. “Some of these kids try the wall over and over and over again and then they get a little higher a little higher and so just that idea to set goals and you can do anything you set your mind to.”
The whole Synder community was invited to participate in the course. Calvary Baptist Lead Pastor Matt Lowry saying he was excited to see so many come out to support one another as they overcame obstacles on the course and in their own lives.
“We’ve seen kids just really encourage each other, even the smallest kids who are probably not ever going to make it up the wall you know everybody’s just cheering them on, encouraging them, I think that kind of positivity is really exciting to see,” said Lowry.
The entire workshop lasted the entire weekend, starting with Greer sharing his message Friday.
