BROWNWOOD, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A Brownwood ISD teacher has died, according to a statement from the school district.

The district said dyslexia teacher Wayne Goforth died after a bout of recent health issues.

“Mr. Goforth was a passionate teacher,” said Brownwood ISD Superintendent, Dr. Joe Young. “His special skills, patience, and enthusiasm while working with our students with dyslexia will be missed.”

The district said counselors will be on hand at each campus for students and staff needing assistance dealing with the tragedy.

“Every time I would run into him on a campus, he had a kind word to say and an optimism that was contagious,” said Young.  “It’s a sad day for BISD and our thoughts and prayers are with Mr. Goforth’s family and friends.”
