Ranger man found dead in Lake Leon, drowning suspected

EASTLAND, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The possible drowning of a man on July 4 at Lake Leon is under investigation, according to an Eastland County Sheriff’s Office statement.

The man was described as white, and 58 years of age. He was last seen alive walking toward the water just after 4:00 p.m., according to the statement. 

Bystanders pulled his floating body from the water after discovering it around 6:30 p.m. CPR was attempted, but not successful.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene by a Justice of the Peace, according to the statement. His body was sent to the Tarrant County Examiner’s Office for an autopsy. 

Ranger Fire Department, as well as Department of Public Safety Troopers also assisted at the scene. 

The Eastland County Sheriff’s Office is attempting to notify the next of kin, according to the statement.
