Red Cross North Texas announces new executive director

ABILENE, Texas (PRESS RELEASE) – The American Red Cross North Texas Region introduced Kari Hennagin as the executive director for the American Red Cross Serving the Texas Big Country chapter. Hennagin will be based in Abilene, Texas, where she will oversee Red Cross programs and services for over 680,000 people in 36 counties stretching from Wichita Falls to San Angelo.
“We are thrilled that Kari has transferred from the Red Cross East Alabama team to join us in North Texas,” said Keith Rhodes, CEO, American Red Cross North Texas Region. “As a veteran Red Crosser, Kari has demonstrated her exceptional leadership capabilities and her dedication to building strong relationships with volunteers and community partners. We can’t wait to see what she accomplishes here.”
Hennagin has been with the Red Cross for more than seven years in various roles including major gifts officer in Florida and Alabama, and most recently, executive director in East Alabama. Prior to joining the Red Cross, Hennagin spent 15 years working for State Farm training new agents. Over the course of her career, Hennagin has worked with several nonprofit organization, including American Cancer Society, Habitat for Humanity, Women’s Domestic Abuse Shelter and helped start the Boys and Girls Club in Atlanta, Texas.
“I am thrilled to be back in my native Texas and am excited to serve the American Red Cross Texas Big Country chapter,” Hennagin said. “During my time at the Red Cross, I have been privileged to work with incredible volunteers, board members, donors and community partners. I know the Big Country will be no different. Working together, I’m eager to jump in and serve this community.”
