(WOOD) — Aretha Franklin, the “Queen of Soul,” is reportedly “gravely ill.” Her family told WDIV, the NBC affiliate in Detroit, that the 76-year-old singer is asking prayers.
No additional information surrounding her condition has been released at this time.
In 2005, Franklin received the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the nation’s highest civil award. Over her career spanning more than 50 years, she has received 18 Grammy Awards.
