ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Taylor Alliance for Prevention has partnered with Taylor County Pharmacy to open a MedReturn medication disposal unit in north Abilene, according to a press release.
Located at Taylor County Pharmacy on Highway 351 in north Abilene, the collection box is the second of its kind in Taylor County, with the first located at the Abilene Law Enforcement Center (LEC).
Over 500 pounds of prescription drugs were collected at the LEC box during its first year, according to the release. With a secondary location, Taylor Alliance for Prevention hopes to make prescription drug disposal easier for local residents.
The box will accept over-the-counter medications and prescription medication in patches, pills and liquid forms, according to the release. No sharp objects such as needles or Epi Pens will be allowed.
