ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The Taylor County Sheriff’s Office says a fugitive who hid underneath an Abilene home Tuesday afternoon escaped from the crawl space then returned and was subsequently arrested.

Members of the Taylor County Sheriff’s Office went to Bulter’s home on the 3100 block of S. 19th Street to arrest him Tuesday afternoon, but when they arrived on scene, he was in the front yard and subsequently into a crawl space underneath the house.

The Abilene Police Department SWAT team was called to assist in Butler’s arrest because authorities believed he could be armed.

A social media post from the Sheriff’s Office states, “Mr. Butler eluded capture but Sheriff’s Deputies remained in the area and after learning Mr. Butler was back at his residence, Deputies were able to take Mr. Butler into custody.”

The post also states 18 firearms, along with some ammunition, were seized from Butler’s home.
