ODESSA, Texas (KLBK/KAMC) – The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) on Wednesday released information about a deadly four-vehicle crash in Ector County that took the life of a Snyder man and also involved a man from Floydada.

DPS said Vaughn Appleton, 54, of Floydada was driving a semi-trailer east on Interstate 20 just west of Odessa early Monday evening. Appleton “failed to control speed” and struck a pickup truck driven by Daniel N. Navarro, 46, of Snyder.

The driver of a second pickup truck, Robert S. Malaise, 27, of Midland, was injured and also taken to Medical Center Hospital. The driver of a second semi-truck, James M. Myers, 51, of Coldspring, was unharmed, according to DPS.

Conditions were dry and clear, according to DPS.  All four drivers were wearing seat belts.
