ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A suspect accused of impregnating an Abilene teen has been indicted.

Phillip Tomlinson, 22, was indicted on one count of Sexual Assault of a Child during a Grand Jury session Thursday. He is being held in the Taylor County Jail on a $30,000 bond.

Court documents state that in August of 2016, detectives learned Tomlinson may have been involved in a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old runaway after finding notebooks in the victim’s room claiming she was pregnant by Tomlinson.

The victim then “admitted that she and Tomlinson were sexually active” and Tomlinson corroborated those claims in a subsequent interview, according to the documents, which say he told detectives they always practiced safe sex.

Tomlinson was 20 and the victim was 14 when the sexual relationship occurred.
