WICHITA FALLS (KFDX/KJTL) - A Burkburnett Police Officer is out on bond after turning himself to Archer County Authorities.
Detective Sergeant Zac Leonard is charged with assault of a high school student following a Texas Ranger investigation of an incident last December.
According to the complaint, Zac was participating in the Burkburnett High School alumni soccer game when authorities say he allegedly struck a student from behind during the game, causing him to become unconscious as well as bruising his face and causing his nose to bleed.
The investigating Ranger reviewed the video of the game and interviewed witnesses.
He said it shows Zac having possession of the ball and the student making a move to take the ball,
Causing Zac to fall to the ground.
That's when the Ranger said Zac got up and hit the student from behind.
