The 2017 Senior Games coming to Abilene in October

ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The City of Abilene is hosting the 2017 Senior Games on Thursday, October 5th through Sunday, October 8th.

The Senior Games promote physical and mental health and fitness among Texas Senior Citizens by encouraging them to maintain healthy lifestyles and social relationships, to participate in sports and recreational activities with other seniors, and to provide an environment for athletic competition.

Ages 50+ can compete in a variety of events such as Pickleball, Track and Field, Archery, Bowling, Golf, Cycling, and more.  The first 150 that register will receive a complimentary t-shirt.  Gold, silver and bronze medals will be awarded in each event and age group.  Bennie Wylie, winner of Season 1 NBC Strong will be the special guest speaker at the opening ceremony on Thursday, October 5th at 8:00 AM at Rose Park Senior Center.   Registration, sponsorships, and other key information can be found at www.abilenetx.com/seniorgames
