ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Traffic is being diverted off the westbound lanes of I-20 in Abilene due to a jackknifed 18-wheeler Friday morning.

The 18-wheeler driver told police his brakes locked, causing him to exit the road and go into the median around 9:30 a.m. His trailer is currently blocking both westbound lanes near mile marker 287, and his cab is tangled in the cables.

All traffic is being directed off the interstate and onto the access road at exit 287. Police at the scene told KTAB and KRBC the back-up has caused multiple additional wrecks.

It’s currently unknown how long it will take to remove the 18-wheeler.

No injuries were reported in connection to this crash.
