BROWN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) - Improvements will be coming to South Highway 279 in Brown County after the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) announced a new construction project in the area, according to a TxDOT press release.
Construction on the project could begin as early as Tuesday, September 4, and will take place on a section of the highway between FM 2632 and 1.4 miles east of that point, according to the release.
Improvements being implemented will include changing the slope of the road and an addition of guardrails.
Beginning at 8:00 a.m. on each day of the project, traffic will be reduced to one lane with a flagger or pilot car to assist with traffic control on varying days, according to the release. Traffic will be reopened in both directions at the end of each work day.
Construction is anticipated to be completed by early November, with weather permitting.
Drivers passing through the area during construction are asked to allow extra time for their commute, and to observe all warning signs within the construction zones.
