ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A vacant home caught fire in south Abilene early Tuesday morning.
A press release from the Abilene Fire Department says emergency crews responded to the fire on the 700 block of Butternut Street just before 2:30 a.m.
When fire fighters arrived on scene, heavy smoke and flames were coming from the back of the home, according to the press release, which says the fire was quickly brought under control.
No one was injured during the fire. The press release says the home was vacant and no utilities were going to the structure.
The press release also claims the fire caused around $5,000 worth of damage to the outside of the building.
Fire investigators are still working to determine the cause of the fire.
