There are lots of new things to check out this year at the West Texas Rodeo this year!

From businesses to cool, custom temporary tattoos and food trucks, you name it – the West Texas Fair and Rodeo has all you need to have a good time with the family!

If you ask Brenda Nance she does not remember the last time she was on a ride but said she could not miss the opportunity to have fun with her grandson.

“Oh, I was kind of scared because I watched it go real, super high up then when it comes down, I came from off my seat! I didn’t know what was going to happen,” Nance said.

Along with the typical fair attractions there businesses showcasing their new products like Nikki’s Frozen Yogurt, which just opened a new location on Buffalo Gap with coffee choices.  

“We serve Onyx coffee, which is voted one of the best coffees in America,” employee Chelsea Sparks said.
Others traveling to Abilene Funhouse FX works all over the south and central parts of the U.S. They are at this year’s fair and rodeo for the first time.

Bringing something unique to your family’s experience.

“We’re very excited to be here. We do professional face and body art, temporary tattoos, glitter tattoos,” Chris Paulalko, owner Funhouse FX.

Long-time fair goers like Nance said they are looking forward to another year of memories.

“To ride ride with my grandson,” Oh, that ride over there is pretty scary. That one made me sick!”

If you missed it Thursday you still have until next Saturday to join in on the fun!

This weekend, it is open from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.

Thursday was a sneak peek from now until closing you will have to pay for admission.

The fair is allowing free gate admission to military and families of military, you just need a valid military I.D.
