Woman, dog killed in Lubbock hit and run

LUBBOCK, Texas (KLBK) – Lubbock Police were called to the scene of a hit-and-run accident involving a bicyclist near Avenue Q and 27th Street just after 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.

When officers arrived to the scene, they found the bicyclist and a dog were hit. The police desk later confirmed the victim was a woman, but was not able to confirm her name.

Initially, police provided a vehicle description. However, it has been withdrawn. EverythingLubbock will continue to update this story when possible.

At 9:18 Wednesday morning, police provided the following statement:

Lubbock Police Department investigators are still searching for the suspect in last night’s fatal hit and run.

Just after 11 p.m. on May 14th, Lubbock police officers responded to the area of Avenue Q and 27th Street for reports of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle that fled the area. The female pedestrian, who has not been identified at this time, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Through the initial investigation, it appears the suspect was traveling northbound on Avenue Q and struck the pedestrian attempting to cross the street with her bicycle and dog. The dog was also killed in the crash.

This crash remains under investigation by the LPD Major Crash Investigation Unit.
