BROWN COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Police are investigating at least two reports of card skimmers at fuel pumps in gas stations around Brown County.

A Facebook post from the Early Police Department says the skimmers, otherwise known as card reading devices, were found at gas stations in Early and Brownwood on Friday.

A pump maintenance technician located one skimmer at a gas station in Early then notified police, according to the Facebook post, which says “the skimmer appears to be identical to the one Brownwood Police investigated earlier [that day]”.

Customers are urged to check pumps before using them as the investigation into the incidents continues.

Those who may have gotten gas in the affected area recently are also asked to check their bank statements for any suspicious activity.

The affected gas station in Early is on the 100 block of Early Blvd. KTAB and KRBC have reached out to the Brownwood Police Department for more information on their skimming case.

BigCountryHomepage will update this article when additional details are available.

Visit the Early Police Department’s Facebook page for more information on how to identify if there has been any unauthorized access at a gas pump.
