ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – A bowfisherman snagged a record-breaking gar at Lake Ft. Phantom on Sunday.

The fish, a longnose gar caught by Tuff Lee, of Odessa, weighed a whopping 25.86 pounds and was 55.63 inches.

Texas Parks and Wildlife Department records show Zac Connor caught the previous record-holding longnose gar with a bow on May 9, 2010.

Connor’s fish weighed 18.28 pounds and was 50 inches long.

The records will be updated to reflect Lee’s catch after a review from TPWD Angler officials.
