Stamford Child’s Murder is one of ‘Top 12 Cold Cases’ in Texas


JONES COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – The murder of a little girl from Stamford remains one of the Texas Rangers’ Top 12 Cold Cases. 

Cortney Clayton, 7, left her home to walk to the convenience store on a Friday evening in September of 1988. She was never seen alive again.

Her remains were found in a field fifty miles from her hometown six months after she disappeared. 

No suspects have been publicly identified during the thirty years investigators have been working to solve Cortney’s murder. 

Texas Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward of up to $3,000 to any person who provides information that leads to the arrest of the person/persons responsible for this crime.
