AUSTIN, Texas (News Release) – Texas State Representative Mike Lang (R-Granbury) was appointed by Texas Speaker of the House Rep. Dennis Bonnen (R-Angleton) to the House Committees on Homeland Security & Public Safety and Natural Resources, key committees for House District 60 and the State of Texas.
“I want to thank Speaker Bonnen for the opportunity to serve on there very important committees,
as the issues to be heard in these committees are not only important to me, and close to my heart,
but also to my district,” stated Rep. Lang. “I look forward to working with my colleagues on both
sides of the aisle as we work through the committee process. This session has started off on the
right foot thanks to the much needed leadership of newly elected Speaker Dennis Bonnen.”
The House committee on Homeland Security & Public Safety is a critical committee for Rep. Lang
given his extensive background as a peace officer and his work with officers across the state and
other federal law enforcement agencies. Ensuring the safety and security of Texans is a chief
concern of Rep. Lang’s and with turmoil in Washington, strong Texas leadership is vital to Texas’
public safety and homeland security needs.
The House Committee on Natural Resources is a key committee for House District 60, a committee
formerly chaired by Rep. Lang’s predecessor, Jim Keffer (R-Eastland). Given District 60’s
abundance of natural resources, Rep. Lang’s influence on the committee will serve his district well,
especially when it comes to one of the most important natural resource in District 60, water.
Representative Mike Lang currently resides in Granbury with his loving wife, Katie, where they
are active members of Stonewater Church. They have one son, Ryan, who lives and works in the
DFW area. Lang served Texas as a law enforcement officer for 30 years. Lang serves as a
member of the Committees on Homeland Security & Public Safety and Natural Resources.
