ABILENE, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – Three suspects have been indicted in connection to an incident where an Abilene man was beaten and robbed in August of 2016.
Xavier Castillo, 19, Marissa Portillo, 17, and Johnny “Bubba” Barbee II, 19, were all indicted for Aggravated Robbery Thursday afternoon.
Court documents say the victim told police that the day of the robbery, he received a call from Portillo asking if he could give her and another female a ride, and when he went to pick the girls up, Castillo and Barbee got inside and asked for a ride as well.
The documents claim the victim agreed to give everyone a ride then dropped the unnamed female off before driving to an undisclosed location in north Abilene.
After he parked, the others told him to turn off the lights, then “Barbee began to choke [the victim] and Castillo began to strike [the victim] with something hard”, according to the documents, which say Barbee then pulled the victim out of the car and the men began fighting while Portillo grabbed his wallet and attempted to take his phone.
The documents state, “Castillo then pointed a gun to [the victim’s] head and threatened him.”
The trio of suspects fled the scene with the victim’s wallet, phone, and pants, according to the documents.
Barbee and Castillo are being held in the Taylor County Jail bonds totaling at least $100,000. Portillo was released in December as part of a court supervised release program.
Portillo and Barbee were taken into custody and charged with Aggravated Robbery earlier this month. All three suspects are being held in the Taylor County Jail on a $100,000 bond each.
