EASTLAND COUNTY, Texas (KTAB/KRBC) – An Eastland County Sheriff’s Deputy was killed during a crash while on duty Wednesday morning.

The Sheriff’s Office says Kenneth Hubert Maltby, 72, passed away after his vehicle was involved in an accident on FM 570 and FM 2214 near the entrance to Vulcan Material company in Eastland just after 8:00 a.m.

It’s unclear how many vehicles were involved at this time, but the Sheriff’s Office says it was at least a two-vehicle crash. The Texas Department of Public Safety is investigating.

Deputy Maltby had been serving with the Sheriff’s Office since May of 2014, according to a press release.
