Who is going to be the quarterback this year at Abilene High? That question hung over the program since Spring.
Del Van Cox announced on Tuesday Eric Abbe is the man.
He out did senior Kallin Sipe to earn the job.
Abbe follows in the footsteps of his brother Evin as the Eagles starting quarterback, and he’s excited to prove to his coach that this was the right decision.
Eric Abbe said, “It’s very exciting, it’s probably one of the hardest battles I’ve ever fought in my life to be honest. It doesn’t seem like much but it’s actually a very big role, and I’m proud to put my shoes in it.”
Griffin Cooke said, “We’re expecting him just to lead the offense, to run hard, throw, just do everything a quarterback needs to do. I think the coaches made the right choice with that decision and it’s been a long, ongoing thing but I think we have everybody where we need to have them right now and I think we’re going to show that tomorrow.”
Abbe and the Eagles start 2018 tomorrow night up in Amarillo against Tascosa. The Eagles are undefeated against the Rebels.
