ACU reports for fall camp

The start of practice for the ACU Wildcats is coming up Friday morning. Today was official reporting day for the players.

They got their equipment and the school took their pictures for the program.

We are entering the second year of the Adam Dorrel era, and there are a lot of new faces on ACU’s campus this year.

Expectations are high and the Wildcats are ready to get started.

“You just get chills. It’s like Christmas day really. I guess tonight’s Christmas eve, everybody is ready to actually get on the field and put pads on,” Bill Weber said. “We’ve been doing practices since spring ball just no pads on, no nothing, so to actually get a helmet on and get going it’s a different feeling.”

“To be at this point right now, this juncture, there’s a lot of excitement, positive energy, guys are just ready to go and get out and compete,” Adam Dorrel said. “For us as coaches, we see the guys get here all at one time and get their helmets and stuff today, it’s really cool.”

“It’s super exciting to see a bunch of new faces on campus and for us to be finally at the season, and be able to put the pads on again,” Luke Anthony said. “I think the energy here is better than it’s been ever since I’ve been here. I think everyone’s pretty excited and ready for September 1st.”

“Man it’s going to be great. It’s fall camp, fall camp is the time where you come together as a team and you find out who’s ready to play and who’s not,” Dante Hibbert said. “When you come together and know who’s going to be with you in the fourth quarter and the coaches come together, it’s just really a time where you bond with your team and compete. It’s a big competition during fall camp because you’ve got to get ready to play.”

The return to football starts with a conditioning run tonight. The first practice is Friday at nine in the morning.

The first game is at Baylor on September 1st.
