Albany moving on to state

Dusty Baker said, “They clawed, they scratched, they had the odds completely against them going into the day but the Albany Lions are officially headed to the state tournament after a 7-6 victory in Game 2 and a walk-off 4-3 victory in Game 3. The Lions are moving on.”

Head Coach David Fairchild said, “I preached about coming in with a great attitude, with a lot of energy and enthusiasm, and having better pitching outings. That’s what we did, we came out and it was a total different ball game all day today than it was the first night. I give a lot of credit to these kids.”

Josh Dyer said, “I knew Chappy was going to come through in the clutch, he always does. Every single I got walked or got on he always found a way to get me over or in so we all trust Chappy, we knew he was going to come through.”

Ben West said, “I’m so speechless. This has been my dream since I was 8 years-old through 14 years-old watching my big brothers play. I had three older brothers play at Round Rock and to be able to go back there and know that I’m going to compete in Round Rock at the Dell Diamond, it’s unbelievable and I can’t put it into words, it’s not real.”
