We were all excited about the fact that Wylie and Cooper were in the same district for every sport except football.
Friday marks the first time the two meet in the Southtown Showdown for a district title, and it comes in softball.
Stacey Herring’s Lady Cougars struggled out of the gate this year.
They won just 7 of their first 23 games to start the 2019 season.
Things are headed in the right direction now, though.
Cooper is 6-1 in district and on the verge of their first district title in 25 years.
“I feel like we’ve grown as a group and as players in the game of softball,” Jada Willis said. “We just clicked this whole season.”
“Next is a really big word that would cover what we’ve come to,” Symone Gary said. “No matter what, it’s always the next out, the next at bat, if you make an error, it’s the next thing that you do that’s going to make you go further. So for everything you do wrong, we’ve come back double to do right the next time.”
The Lady Cougars are riding a three game winning streak as they get ready to face Wylie.
