Cowgirls turning things around in 2019

The HSU Cowgirls are one of the best stories in the Big Country this year.

In 2018, the Cowgirls won one game.

They were 1-37 overall and 1-29 in American Southwest Conference play.

What a differenct a year makes.

Head coach Chanin Nauden’s team just beat the 2nd ranked team in the nation on Sunday.

They have seventeen wins and are in fourth place in the conference.

Naudin said, “We have some incredible talent on the way, as well, from the next two classes. That’s what’s so crazy about it. This was our first group to come in and turn around. They turned it around quick. I was very impresses. I thought it would be another year or two before we reached the point where we could play at the top level. Now, that’s our goal as we move forward and get more talented kids to come forward and push the returners every year, and then we’ll have a competitive environment.”

It sounds like it’s only going to get better.

The Cowgirls host sixth place UT-Dallas on Thursday and Friday.
