Cox says Eagles approached scrimmage the right way

Abilene High head coach Cox and his team played one scrimmage this fall to get ready for this week’s season opener.

It wasn’t a perfect day of football against Copperas Cove, but coach Cox says plenty of good things happened to carry over to this week of preparation.

Coach Cox said, “Other than coming out healthy, just making sure you played with an intensity and setting the pace. That what our guys are focused on. You know, lining up right defensively. Making sure we are tackling. Making sure we aren’t missing any tackles, just the fundamentals. We had a few drops. Just those few things that we’ve got to clean up on defense. The basic fundamentals that makes an offense great and a defense great. You just got to keep working on those and get better.”

The Eagles are on the road this week to open 2018.

They are traveling up to Amarillo to take on Tascosa.

Abilene High is 5-0 all-time against the Rebels.
