The HSU Cowboys were the last to open their season, and the nationally ranked Cowboys didn’t disappoint with a 74-0 victory over an over-matched Texas College team.
The point total is eye-popping, but how about that shut out.
Its the first for an HSU defense since 2012.
The Cowboys defense held the Steers to just 136 yards in the game.
It was absolute domination by HSU.
“Well we all talked about dominating, and that was just the main thing we were trying to do the whole time, and it all comes down to just doing your job, so we know that, hey if you do your job then you’ll get the results you need,” Reggie Davis said. “That’s just kind of the thing we talked about.”
“It’s a great feeling finally to keep the goose egg up there, but I think the reason we were able to do that was just because we executed the game plan until the very last snap of the game, and I think that’s kind of what we’ve been lacking the last couple of years,” Matthew Hawkins said.
It’s time for American Southwest Conference play for the Cowboys. They are back at Shelton Stadium to play Louisiana College on Saturday at 1 PM.
