HSU picked 4th in ASC West volleyball

RICHARDSON, Texas – Hardin-Simmons’ volleyball team has been picked to finish fourth in the American Southwest Conference West Division.

The Cowgirls return five position starters plus a libero from a younger team a year ago. The Cowgirls finished the season strong, winning seven of nine games down the stretch and return 15 letterwinners and six seniors.

Defending ASC West champion Mary Hardin-Baylor was picked to repeat. The Cru went 15-1 in league play a year ago. Concordia was picked second, McMurry third, HSU was fourth, Howard Payne fifth and Sul Ross State sixth. UT Dallas was a unanimous pick to win the ASC East.

Senior right side Morgan Prince and junior setter Ashley Pierce were named to the preseason watch list.

The Cowgirls will start practice on Aug. 20 as they prepare for the season opener on Aug. 31 against Millsaps at the Austin College Tournament.
