The Abilene High Eagles rolled through the regular season with a 23-1 overall record, and they were undefeated in District 3-6A.
The first set of goals are accomplished, but there is more to accomplish.
The Lady Eagles are excited to get the postseason started, but they are working to stay focused and ready to play.
Head Coach Jim Reese said, “We’ve really encouraged them to keep doing what they’re doing, we’re not trying to get them more excited or more nervous because the playoffs, that situation as everybody knows brings the excitement so they’re going to be pumped up enough so they just need to stay grounded.”
Abrianna Salazar said, “We’ve narrowed down in practice batting and BP and reps and having fun and staying controlled with our hitting. We did really good last year in the playoffs and I think we’ll do even better because we know what we’re capable of. We’re there in the dugout hyping each other up and doing really good.”
The Lady Eagles start what they hope is a long run in the playoffs on Thursday.
They are headed to Crowley to play Arlington.
Game 2 is Saturday at 2 p.m. in Abilene.
