The McMurry War Hawks hit the field for the first time in 2018 Saturday morning.

Mcmurry heads into the season featuring a roster with just seven seniors and 18 juniors, while rostering 29 sophomores and 66 freshmen in Head Coach Lance Hinson’s 5th season.

While there may certainly be growing pains, the War Hawks are excited to consistently grow and learn while taking the field in 2018.

Head Coach Lance Hinson said, “It’s always fun to get out and take a look at the guys you put a lot of effort into recruiting, put a lot of effort into the offseason with your returners, bringing those guys back, seeing what they did over the summer.”

Kevin Hurley Jr. said, “I’m glad we’re back, it feels like it took forever. A lot of guys are ready, I feel like we do have a few seniors and a few juniors, but we’re also going to look for some sophomores and some freshman to step up too and I think that’s important for them. “

Darius Brooks said, “Right now, it is just improving on all phases of the ball: special teams, defense, and offense. First we want to focus on ourselves and let everything take care of itself.”>>

McMurry will open the 2018 season on Thursday, August 30 when they host Trinity University.
