The McMurry War Hawks are getting a new addition to their athletic facilities.
Today, the university announced the softball team will be getting their own field, thanks in part to donations from McMurry trustee Kathi Edwards and her husband Murray.
The War Hawks began playing softball in the 2018 season, and have played all of their home games at Red Bud Park for their first two seasons, so to finally have a field of their own is really special.
“I think we were all just super excited. This is a big step for us, so excitement doesn’t even put it into words,” Hope Schoeneman said. “Having a home field advantage is great, because you get to practice on your field, you know your field, you know all the special spots that you have to worry about and just the excitement to play on your own field, it gives you a loss for words. It’s unbelieveable to have your own field.”
The War Hawks are 5-8 at home this season, they are so excited for Edwards Field to open up for play.
