The Merkel Badgers go to work this morning like most of the state, and they are really happy to be back on the field.

Head coach John Cornelius’ team advanced to the 3rd round of the playoffs in 2017.

It was a good run, and the players and the coaches are looking forward to showing everybody in their district and the state that they can expect another run like that one again this year.

Jonah White said, “We’re feeling pumped, we’re excited to be out here in the morning get to work on football already. Our guys are giving a lot of effort, and we’ve got a ton of people out here so it’s really tough to get a lot of reps.”

John Cornelius said, “We’re fired up. You just count down the days all summer long for this point, you do all that work in the weight room, on the track, all that good stuff, and you finally get to get out here and see what you got.”

Rylan Holloway said, “We’re feeling pretty good. It’s the first day and everybody’s excited, we’ve been excited since last year ended so we’re ready to be out here.”
