No seniors, no problem for Eastland softball

The state-ranked Eastland Mavericks start their Bi-District series on Thursday night.

The Lady Mavericks are the highest ranked Class 3A team in the Big Country with a 23-2 record, and a district championship in hand.

The most remarkable thing about the 2019 Eastland team is there are no seniors on the roster.

Bailey Browning said, “I think we just need to play our game, we know what we’re doing and we’ve been there. Since we were such a young team last year, we didn’t lose anybody and we all came back together and further improved on our skills and became a better team as one.”

Brynna Foster said, “We’re really a tight group and we just communicate really well and play together as a team, we’ve played together since we were in 8U.”

Head Coach Tera Davis said, “These girls playing together for those three years has a huge factor, they get to know each other, they get to learn with each other and they’ve really grown together.”
The Lady Mavericks are playing a winner-to-take-all game against Jim Ned on Thursday.

The first pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. in Trent.
