Pets banned from ACU Athletic facilities


ABILENE – Beginning this weekend with ACU’s football scrimmage in the morning and the women’s soccer scrimmage that evening, ACU Athletics will be following university policy banning pets from all athletics facilities and events.

The university policy – which doesn’t ban service animals from entering buildings or athletics venues – reads that members of the university community and visitors to the campus are generally permitted to bring their pets to public outdoor areas of the Abilene campus. Pets are only allowed outdoors; they are prohibited from all University buildings, and athletic venues (except outdoor grassy areas associated with the baseball, softball, soccer, and track facilities in participation with ACU Athletics’ Pet Pass).

All pets must be controlled by a leash, tether, or harness that does not exceed six feet in length. Pets may not be tethered to a tree or structure or left unattended for any period of time. Unless otherwise permitted by this policy, pets are prohibited from all outdoor university events. Emotional support animals are also included in the ban.
