The Abilene High Eagles were back on the field on Tuesday as they continue to get ready for the 2018 season.
The Eagles battle for the starting quarterback job is one of the interesting aspects of Eagles camp.
Kallin Sipe and Eric Abbe started practice even, and they are still even after a little over a week of work.
Head coach Del Van Cox says the fight for the position is making both quarterbacks better.
Cox said, “We’ve still got a couple of questions left to answer, one being at quarterback, we’ll try to get that solved and answered on Friday. We could platoon them unless somebody clearly takes the reigns and goes, but there are some things that we’ll be able to see that they can do in a live setting. A lot of depth now at quarterback, but both these guys can play other positions as well and once we figure who the quarterback will be, the other will play somewhere else.”
Sipe and Abbe get their first action of the year against an opponent on Friday morning.
They host Copperas Cove at Shotwell Stadium at 11 am.
