Roan is learning on the job at Cooper

Cooper head coach Aaron Roan is no stranger to Cooper, but this is his first season as the Cougars head coach.

For those of you who don’t know, it adds a whole lot of responsibility when you go from defensive coordinator to head coach.

Roan says he’s learning on the job, and the transition is going well, as he prepares for his first game as the Cougars’ leader.

Coach Roan said, “There are some new things that get at me every day. That’s expected. It is new, so there’s a learning curve with that that I’m still learning. It’s no different than our kids learning and improving everything that they do. It’s a learning curve for me, and I’m learning and got to adjust on the fly. When school started and kind of got in a routine, it eased that process a little bit. It’s become a lot more familiar. Kind of have a set schedule with school. That’s been a blessing of getting into a routine.”

Coach Roan’s first game as head coach is Friday night at Shotwell Stadium.

Cooper hosts Keller. The Cougars are 6-5 in coaching debuts in school history.
